Event Details
The Goochland Family YMCA will host the 5th Annual Kolor Me Katie 5K in memory of Katie Lane Anderson, a lifelong resident of Goochland County, on May 18, 2019. Katie Anderson lost her battle to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) after a failed bone marrow transplant and a second attempt at a stem cell transplant. AML is typically one of the most aggressive blood cancers with very few treatment options. Katie would have celebrated her 22nd birthday on May 20 of this year.
This race benefits the Goochland YMCA Annual Campaign and the Goochland YMCA Leaders' Club. This event has already raised over $20,000 for various non-profit agencies. Previous recipients a include Connor's Heroes Foundation and The Virginia Rose AML Foundation. This race also provides opportunities for Goochland Leaders Club Members to complete community service hours - a requirement of all Leaders Club Members. |
Race Time(s): Kiddie Kolor Run (2nd grade and under) - 9:35 am Mile Fun Run (5th grade and younger) - 9:15 am Kolor Me Katie 5K (all ages welcome) - 10 am All ages and all paces are welcome to participate in the race. There will be a 400 yard run for children in grades 2 and under, a 1 mile fun run for children in grades 5 and under and the 5k run. Walkers are encouraged to participate - this is a family event and pace is not a limitation! Additional Info: Each race participant will receive a Kolor Me Katie t-shirt, a color packet, race bib, water and light snacks along the way. It is suggested that each race participant wear white to maximize the color effect. |
